Day One: Handing over the Reigns

Taking over from a dormant franchise where the rock bottom was no longer a option, team owner Nerio Jackson instills a vote of confidence in his new hire giving me this motivational email

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to Trenton! Thanks again for accepting this position. I can't tell you how excited we are to have you here. The whole city is buzzing about our baseball franchise. I think you'll find that we have a great organization with a good combination of proven vets and rising stars. Still, we may need one or two big free agents to win now and an excellent draft to build for the future

You've got quite a bit on your plate, but I'm confident you can handle it. Before the season starts, take some time to get acquainted with the teams and offices. Recommendations and explanations of events and features are explained in the Help on each page.

The first thing that you'll do once the seasons starts is set the franchise's budget. This season, we have $185 million to spend, so start thinking about our strategy. Do we want to devote everything to winning now? Or, do we stockpile prospects and plan for the future? Hopefully, we can find a happy medium and build a true dynasty.

And just a heads up -- this entire organization is paperless as we do all of our communicating through messages like these. I've got a lot of faith in your abilities and would like to leave all the baseball decisions up to you, so I would not expect that you will hear from me too often. But, you should start to see some messages from coaches, players, the medical staff and the league commissioner soon.

Good Luck!! Nerio Jackson, owner of Trenton Thunder

Whoa I say! 185 million to spend on the organizational direction seems like a good amount of coin in which to build our future as our present is obviously bleak, couple of very good things going for us as first and foremost we have the no.1 pick in the draft along with the no.1 pick in the rule5 draft and ability to claim anyone off waivers first.
If the previous owner did anything he left me with little to any high priced free agent to be's this first season so I can do 2 things. 1)being sign some quality free agents(if there are any) or 2 take on some salaries of players that team's don't want any longer to help them reduce there caps and creating hopefully good relations with other GM's in the league.

Going to spend the next day before the league fill's researching team/depth chart/free agents to be from other squads and figuring out what arbitration guys want...we'll definitly have a lot of cash to throw around as I'm told I can't max out certain areas since I'm new to the league.odd
