Went against a lot of my players here as some of there numbers didn't justify there salary, but they fought back saying that the previous manager didn't know what he was doing and put them in situations to fail, can't really argue with that from what I've seen..ended up going 2-2 with 2 firstbasemen receiving 2 pretty big contracts for part time duty. weren't happy at all about that.
Been around since the start of this disaster and although I see him as a righthanded specialist he's taken his lumps for this team, wasn't asking for a lot so instead of cutting him loose we offered him a small jump in salary, arbitrator gives us the Win
West will have a spot in the rotation breaking spring training, needed to get him signed but the numbers are so skewed from this team's previous statistics that good players even have bad numbers, not expecting a 180 but he should be a lot better than his numbers have shown. Arbitrator rules in our favor Win
What do you pay a guy who hits .258 with a OPS of .711 with over 500 at bats playing various positions, none of which were really well, my guess was somewhere in the 3 million range, arbitrator thought differently with a 4.5 million reward, my jaw dropped and I'm still reeling as to why Loss
Reeling from the Aquino decision we then try our hand with Hamilton, Hamilton doesn't really fit into our plan, great hitter mind you and I'm not just going to cut the guy loose for nothing, floated out the idea to the league that he's available for a minor league reliever with possible potential but no offers as of yet. Hamilton last yr had 400 at bats hit 13 hrs with a OPS of over .800, great numbers but he's never really been a regular player for this team, arbitrator think otherwise however and award Hamilton his 4 mill asking price. YIKES! Loss but the bigger picture is that I now have close to 12 million locked up to 1b. were going to expose this guy in the rule 5 hoping someone doesn't notice salary.
Couldn't bring myself to signing this guy, been around since Day1 and took his lumps but even at the 1.5 mill he was asking for he didn't do a lot in the many at bats he had with this team, getting someone via the rule5 will be a lot cheaper and they'll actually have some upside.
