Conclusion

So as it appears this team did have more than enough capable SS's in the organization, it appears however that he had some fascination with big bat 1b/DH/C types more so than guys who knew how to play anything resembling defense, it also appears that once guys realized that he was "in" to that sort of thing they took advantage of that fact...don't understand sometime the need people feel to trade, in most cases its better to stand pat...in my opinion anyways.


Organization Ranking Grades as we approach Spring Training

Starting Pitchers - C+ - lots of potential starting pitchers in this organization that could make a difference,especially at the big league level and scattered at the top of the minor league system (Alex Heredia,Matt McClellan,Tracy Winchester,Marlon Black,Willie Conine) to name a few

Bullpen - C+ - have some good arms in the bullpen and thru out the minor league system (Aaron Gleason,Ted Hunter,Mitch Pose,Justin Dunham)

Catchers - A - can't see anyone having better catchers than us in this, we have about 5 possible Big League catchers (Craig Wood,Pep Kim,Kevin Rogers,Freddy Frazier,Steve Roberts) with all kinds of capabilities

Firstbase - A - since the former manager collected quite a bit of these thru drafts and trades, we are extremely deep at the least important and more importantly easiest position to find a defensively challenged(that's us) player to play (Jumbo Richardson,Otis Howell,Allen Mayne,Kent Hamilton,Danny Jennings)

Secondbase -C - Not much aside from Juan Mota & possibly Charles Lo or Mel Blair

Thirdbase - C+ - future star Elvis Greenberg will play 3b for us in the future however due to issues at SS will be taking one for the team this season, pretty good depth at 3b thruout,albeit all have there weakness. (Danny Perez & Morgan Sirotka)

Shortstop - D- - we've been robbed in the past, not 1 SS on the roster when I took the team over. waiver wire pickup Kirk Clarke is our best. SAD

Left Field - D+ - surprisingly not very strong at this position, we could convert some 1b to play out there but right now we have Winston Barrett & Guillermo Eusebio and that would be about it

Centerfield - D- - stocked up on minor league castoff's, will try our hand with Walt Gold at CF at the major league level which is sad that he's our best at the position

Rightfield - C- - 1 really good prospect ,Carmine Bryant love his speed and what he brings to the table
